Over $200,000.00 damage to construction equipment at Alexander Drive and Grand River Avenue.
Sometime between Friday June 19 and Monday June 22, 2015 unknown person(s) had poured sandblasting material into heavy machinery equipment. The damaged construction equipment was parked in the area of Alexander Drive and Grand River Avenue. The construction company is currently contracted to provide sewer and water main removal on Alexander Drive.
Investigation revealed that the sandblasting material was not being used on site where the damage occurred. It is suspected by investigators that whoever is responsible for the damage to the equipment knew their way around and were familiar with the mechanics of this type of equipment.
A closer look at one of the pieces of equipment damaged resulted in the belief that the suspect(s) brought their own special tool to remove the bolts in order to have access to the area where the sandblasting material was poured into.
The damage to the equipment is estimated at over $200,000.00.
Detectives from the Major Crime Unit with the assistance of the BPS Forensics Identification Unit continue their investigation. Officers have canvassed and spoke to neighbours in the area regarding witnesses.
