20 Year Old From South Huron Arrested For Drunk Driving At RIDE

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – A Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E) check has led to the arrest and subsequent charges against a 20-year-old male from South Huron. Just before 10:00 p.m. on August 13, 2016 a Dodge Charger entered a R.I.D.E checkpoint at the intersection of South Road and Corbett Line.

While speaking with the male driver the officer noted the driver had been consuming some alcohol. A roadside screening test was performed which resulted in the driver registering a fail. He was placed under arrest for Driving a Motor Vehicle With Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol and was transported to the Exeter OPP Detachment for breath tests. He subsequently provided two samples of his breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician and both of his samples registered over the legal limit.

As a result, 20-year-old Shawn SOCHOLOTIUK from South Huron has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle – Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol. He was later released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for September 22, 2016 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich. He also received an automatic 90-day driver’s licence suspension and his vehicle has been impounded for seven days.
