(WELLINGON NORTH TOWNSHIP, ON) – On June 14, 2015 at approximately 8:00 p.m., the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call regarding a man carrying a machete chasing people around on Main Street in Mount Forest, Wellington North Township.
Investigation revealed that a group of people were walking down the street and a male, not known to the group threw a lit cigarette at a female and an argument erupted. One of the males in the group approached the suspect at which time the suspect grabbed a hold of him and assaulted him. The group of people dispersed and ran in different directions, fearing for their safety. As one the males climbed a fence, the suspect threw the machete at him, missing him. The suspect threatened to harm another man that was sitting outside and not involved in the incident.
Police located the suspect and observed the machete concealed in his pants with the handle sticking out above his waist band. The male was placed under arrest and taken into custody.
Donald MACNEILL age 20 of Wellington North Township has been charged with the following the following Criminal Code Offences:
Cause Disturbance
Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
Assault with a Weapon X2
Uttering Threats X2
Assault
Carrying a Concealed Weapon
He was held for a Bail Hearing to answer to the charges.
