(MAPLETON TOWNSHIP, ON) – On Saturday August 25, 2018, at approximately 10:14 a.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was conducting Radar speed enforcement and monitoring traffic on Wellington Road 12 near the 16th Line of Mapleton Township. The officer observed a male driving a grey pick-up truck northbound at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on Radar in excess of 135 km/h.
20-year-old Andrew LANE of Wellington North Township has been charged with Race a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Provincial Court on October 3, 2018. His driver’s licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.
