(GUELPH-ERAMOSA TOWNSHIP, ON) – On September 14, 2019 at approximately 2:55 a.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a break and enter in progress at a business on Side Road 14 in Guelph-Eramosa Township. The business, which is contained within a large bush area and has controlled access is a storage for industrial wire spools and of other metal items.
Officers responded to the scene and immediately set up containment of the area. Police searched a motor vehicle that was parked partially in the ditch close to the entrance of the business and located break and enter tools. Police seized a section of copper wire that was laying on the ground nearby as well as a duffel bag containing various copper fittings.
Following a successful track through the bush, the OPP Canine Unit and Emergency Response Team (ERT) located and arrested two suspects.
Maxwell Gerald KIRKWOOD, 29-years-old of Waterloo has been charged with Theft Under $5000, Possession of Break in Instruments and Break and Enter a Place – Commit Indictable offence contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. The accused was held for a Bail Hearing.
Joseph YATEMAN, 39-years-old of Kitchener has been charged with Theft Under $5000, Possession of Break in Instruments and Break and Enter a Place – Commit Indictable offence contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. The accused is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on October 18, 2019 to answer to the charges.
