(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH SOUTH, ON) On Wednesday April 18, 2012, around 1 a.m., while on patrol a Perth County OPP officer driving east bound on Perth Line 20 near Perth Road 130, observed an approaching west bound car traveling at an extremely high rate of speed.
The officer activated the police radar and locked the vehicle’s speed at 191 km/h which is 111 km above the 80 km/h posted speed limit. The vehicle was safely pulled over at Road 140 (two concessions west of the location where the speed was locked-in). The male driver and female passenger were on their way to the beach in Grand Bend to “watch the waterâ€Â.
The male driver, a 24 year old male from Cambridge, was issued a summons for “racing a motor vehicleâ€Â. He is scheduled to appear in Stratford Court on May 22, 2012 to answer to this charge. His driver’s licence was seized and has been returned to the Ministry of Transportation, it is suspended for 7 days. The 2005 silver Subaru he was operating was towed from the scene and has been impounded for 7 days.
