19 Year Old Pronounced Dead At Scene Of Motor Vehicle Collision

(MUNICIPALITY OF WEST PERTH, ON) Early Friday morning April 18, 2014, Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were called to a single motor vehicle collision on Perth Line 24 between Road 170 and Road 179.

Investigation revealed that sometime prior to 6:30 a.m. a red Dodge Dakota pickup truck had been travelling west bound on Perth Line 24, when it left the roadway, entered the north ditch, where it rolled and the driver was ejected from the vehicle. The driver was the sole occupant of the vehicle.

The male driver of the pickup truck, Travis BROWN (19) of the Municipality of West Perth was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Western Region OPP Technical Traffic Investigation Unit is currently at the scene and is continuing their investigation. Initial results indicate that speed and lack of seatbelt use was a factor in this tragic collision.

Perth Line 24 between Road 170 and Road 179 is expected to remain closed until the noon hour, allowing for cleanup of the debris and safety of the investigators.
