(COUNTY OF BRANT, ON) – Members of the County of Brant Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to attend a single vehicle collision on 24 May 2016 at approximately 3:10 a.m. on Highway #53 just east of the village of Cathcart in the County of Brant.
County of Brant OPP attended the scene along with County of Brant Fire and Ambulance service and found that an east bound Ford Focus had lost control and collided with a tree.
The passenger in the Ford Focus whose name cannot be released pending notification of next of kin was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police have charged 19-year-old Jacob HOAG of Norfolk County under the Criminal Code of Canada with:
Driving while ability impaired causing death
Driving a motor vehicle with more than 80 mgs of alcohol in his blood causing an accident with a fatality.
He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Brantford at a later date to answer to his charges. If convicted, the offender will be subject to the Criminal Code penalties, including a fine or jail time, and a driving prohibition.
