On the afternoon of February 16, 2016, a fire occurred at a residence on Church Street, in Elmira. A subsequent police investigation, with the assistance of the Ontario Fire Marshalls Office revealed that the fire had been deliberately set. A 19 year old Elmira resident, who had been treated from smoke inhalation has been charged with Arson and is being held in custody pending a bail hearing. No other injuries were sustained as a result of the fire. Damage at this time is estimated at approximately $40,000. Detectives continue to investigate the incident.
