(MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ON) – At approximately 1:05 p.m. on November 26, 2016, the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), the Middlesex Centre Fire Services, and the Middlesex-London Emergency Medical Services (EMS), responded to a motor vehicle collision involving three vehicles.
The investigation has revealed that a grey GMC pickup truck was travelling northbound on Vanneck Road, where it collided with a red Dodge car, in the intersection at Egremont Drive (which is governed by traffic lights). The Dodge car, which was travelling eastbound on Egremont Drive, then collided with a silver Honda car, which was travelling westbound on Egremont Drive.
The female driver (and lone occupant) of the Honda was pronounced dead at the scene. She has been identified as 81-year-old Marion SATCHWILL, from Strathroy-Caradoc, Ontario.
The driver of the Dodge, a 19-year-old male from West Elgin, Ontario, had to be extricated from the vehicle and was transported to hospital by ambulance with life threatening injuries. He remains in hospital, where he is currently listed in fair condition.
The two passengers in the Dodge (a 19-year-old male, and a 16-year-old female (both from Middlesex Centre, Ontario)) were transported by ambulance with life-threatening injuries to hospital, where they remain, each currently listed in good condition.
The three occupants of the GMC (a 46-year-old male, and two females (ages 5 and 3), all from Middlesex Centre, Ontario) did not attend hospital.
The OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI) attended the scene to assist with the investigation. As a result, Egremont Drive was closed from Denfield Road to Melrose Drive, and Vanneck Road was closed from Sunningdale Road to Boston Drive until approximately 7:00 p.m. on November 26, 2016.
This incident remains under investigation.
