(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH EAST, ON) – On Monday June 27, 2016, around 8:45 p.m., Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were dispatched to a single motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Line 52 and Road 130 (North of Rostock).
Upon arrival at the scene officers were able to determine that a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck had been driving eastbound on Line 52 approaching Road 130 when it lost control and rolled in the South ditch. Three occupants of the truck were uninjured as a result of the collision.
The male driver displayed signs of impairment and was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol. He was transported to the Perth County OPP Detachment in Sebringville where he provided breath samples. As a result of these samples, 19-year-old Connor Joseph McNeil NICHOLSON of Stratford has been charged with the following Criminal Code of Canada offences:
Driving while ability impaired – motor vehicle (Alcohol).
Driving with more than 80 mgs of alcohol in blood.
He is scheduled to appear at the Stratford Court of Justice on Monday July 11, 2016, to answer to these charges. He was also issued an automatic 90 day driver’s licence suspension and his motor vehicle has been impounded for seven days.
One of the two passengers in the pickup has been charged with “fail to comply with probation order”(alcohol condition), contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He is to appear at the Stratford Youth Justice Court on August 18, 2016 to answer to the charge.
The second passenger has been charged with “person under 19 years consuming liquor”, contrary to the Liquor Licence Act of Ontario.
