(ST.MARYS, ON) On Sunday June 07, 2015, shortly after 7 a.m., Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers attended outside a Queen St. East residence where they were met by a citizen. The citizen advised, that he had followed a male suspect from an address on Huron St. South in St.Marys, where the suspect had been observed rummaging through the citizens vehicle. The suspect had entered the Queen St. East residence but returned outside prior to police arrival.
Rodney SCOTT (19) of St.Marys was arrested by police and has been charged with the following Criminal Code of Canada offences; “theft under $5,000 from a motor vehicle”, and “fail to comply with probation order”. He is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on July 13, 2015 to answer to these charges.
Residents are urged to watch for suspicious people or activity in their neighbourhoods. Lock your vehicles at all times and remove or secure valuables out of sight. Have a trusted neighbour keep an eye out while you plan to be away. Do not announce your absence over social media.
