On October 3, 2016, shortly before 1 a.m., Waterloo Regional Police responded to a home on Swift Crescent in Cambridge for a report of an injured male. Officers found a 19-year-old unresponsive male who was suffering from head trauma.
An investigation revealed that he sustained injuries after getting into a physical altercation with another male inside the house. The victim was taken to Cambridge Memorial Hospital and then transported by air ambulance to Hamilton General Hospital in critical condition. The victim is currently listed in critical, but stable condition.
A 22-year-old male has been charged with Aggravated Assault and Unlawfully Causing Bodily Harm. He is scheduled to appear in Kitchener court on November 15, 2016. Waterloo Regional Police want to assure the public that this appears to be an isolated incident and there is no risk to public safety.
