(Wellington North TOWNSHIP, ON) – Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with assistance from the OPP West Region Technical Traffic Collision Investigation (TTCI) team is currently investigating a single motor vehicle collision which occurred at approximately 2:35 p.m. on January 18, 2015.
Wellington County OPP officers observed a motor vehicle previously reported to have stolen fuel on the 12th Line of Minto Township. Police attempted to stop the motor vehicle however, the driver refused to stop. While travelling eastbound on the Third Line of Wellington North Township, the driver lost control and rolled the vehicle into the north ditch.
The driver of the vehicle, a 31 year old male of no fixed address was taken to hospital with undetermined injuries. An 18 year old female passenger from Listowel was also taken to hospital with undetermined injuries.
Side Road 3 west is closed from Wellington Road 6 to Highway 6 while the investigation is ongoing.
The OPP has notified the province’s Special Investigation Unit (SIU) which has invoked its mandate. As a result the OPP will not be able to provide any further information. Any other inquiries should be directed to the SIU Communications at 1-416-622-2342.
