(CITY OF GUELPH) – On Saturday, January 20, 2018, members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (O.P.P.) were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) check on the Hanlon Expressway, Guelph.
At approximately 3:00 a.m., a sedan entered the RIDE check. While speaking with the male driver, officers detected the odour of fresh burnt marihuana coming from the vehicle. Investigation revealed that the passenger was in possession of a quantity of marihuana.
18-year-old, Philip Anthony ZITA of Oakville was charged with Possession of Marihuana over 30 grams contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances act and is scheduled to appear in Guelph court on February 23, 2018.
