18 Year Old Caught Doing 153 in an 80 – Vehicle Impounded

(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) On Thursday June 07, 2012, just after 11 p.m., a Perth County OPP officer observed a pickup truck travelling at an extremely high rate of speed on Road 169 north of Trowbridge.

The officer activated the police radar and locked in the speed of the south bound Dodge Ram pickup truck at 153 km/h in an 80 km/h zone (the truck had almost entered the 50 km/h “community safety zone”). The truck was operated by an 18 year old male driver from the Municipality of North Perth.

The driver was issued a summons for “racing a motor vehicle”. He is scheduled to appear in Stratford Court on July 10, 2012, to answer to this charge. His driver’s licence was seized and has been returned to the Ministry of Transportation, it has been suspended for 7 days. The Dodge truck was towed from the scene and has been impounded for 7 days. The driver and his 3 male passengers had to make alternate arrangements for a ride home.
