(PERTH COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Crime Unit are pointing their fingers at vehicle owners for contributing to criminal activity throughout West Region. Recent OPP statistics and interviews with arrested parties clearly show that thieves are targeting unlocked vehicles and All Terrain Vehicles (ATV) with keys left in the ignition.
Since 01 September, 2011 there have been 18 vehicles stolen in Huron County, 19 stolen vehicles in South Bruce County and another 21 stolen vehicles in Perth County. In almost every case vehicle keys were left in the ignition” – Detachment Commander Steve Porter – Perth County OPP.
These vehicles are being used in the commission of other criminal acts such as thefts
