(Ottawa) – In the early morning hours of Thursday June 4, 2015, Ottawa Police East Patrol officers attended the railway lines in the area of Anderson and Russell Roads after maintenance workers reported suspicious activity.
At the scene, officers located a number of marihuana seedlings in a cooler and another 50 that had been recently planted. The Canine Unit also attended the call and located one suspect hiding in the bush nearby.
Included in the items seized at the location were:
172 marihuana plants
As a result of the investigation by the Drug Unit, Duane ROSTAS (m), 41 years old of Ottawa is charged with:
Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Schedule II Substance (marihuana) under Sec 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
Production of a Schedule II Substance (marihuana) under Sec 7(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
He was released on a Promise to Appear with a court date of July 8, 2015.
