17 Year Old Drunk Driver Rolls Pickup Truck On Crediton Road

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – A 17-year-old from North Middlesex is facing several driving related charges following an investigation into a rollover collision that took place on August 6, 2016.

Just before 3:00 a.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a residence located on Crediton Road to speak with a passenger that had just been involved in a rollover collision. The passenger climbed out of the truck and went to a nearby residence to summons help. Officers responded to the scene and located a full size GMC Sierra pickup truck on its roof in the south ditch of Crediton Road. Emergency crews were able to free the driver from the overturned truck and while police were speaking with the driver they noted he had been consuming alcohol. In addition, the driver was displaying several signs of impairment. As a result he was placed under arrest for impaired driving.

He was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for his injuries. Once medically cleared, the accused provided two samples of his breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician. Both of his samples registered over the legal limit.

As a result, a 17-year-old male from North Middlesex has been charged with Impaired Driving, Drive Motor Vehicle – Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol, Young Driver – Blood Alcohol Concentration Above Zero, Person Under 19 Years Consuming Liquor and Driver – Fail to Properly Wear Seat Belt. He has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for Youth Justice Court – Goderich on September 12, 2016. He was served with an automatic driver’s licence suspension and his motor vehicle was completely destroyed from the collision.
