17 Year Old Drunk Driver

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers have charged a 17 year old male with several offences following an early morning traffic stop this past Sunday. Just before 4:00 a.m. a Huron OPP officer observed a blue Dodge Caravan travelling southbound on Orchard Line without working taillights. Officers stopped the van driver on Black’s Point Road. Upon speaking with the driver the officer noticed several open containers of alcohol inside the van. It was also noted the driver had been drinking alcohol. A roadside screening test was completed which resulted in a fail for the driver. He was transported to the Huron OPP detachment for breath tests; both of his samples were above the legal limit.

The driver, 17 years of age from Central Huron has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle – Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol, Person Under 19 years Consuming Liquor and Novice Driver Blood Alcohol Concentration Above Zero. He has a court date scheduled for the Youth Justice Court – Goderich on June 13, 2013. He received an automatic 90 day driver’s licence suspension.
