17 Year Old Caught Doing 175 in an 80

(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH EAST, ON) On Tuesday April 23, 2013, shortly before 10 p.m., a Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (O.P.P.) officer patrolling Perth Line 55 between Monkton and Brunner observed a fast moving west bound motorcycle.

The officer who was operating a marked O.P.P. vehicle activated the police radar and locked the motorcycles speed in at 175 km/h in an 80 km/h zone. The motorcycle operator drove by the eastbound police cruiser and attempted to flee by turning southbound onto a side road. The motorcyclist was unable to make the turn and dropped his machine. The rider left his machine on the ground and walked in a southbound direction away from police.

The 17 year old male motorcyclist a township of Perth East Resident was issued a summons for racing a motor vehicle, and fail to stop for police. He is scheduled to appear in Stratford Court on May 28, 2013, to answer to these charges. His driver’s licence was seized and has been returned to the Ministry of Transportation. The motorcycle was towed from the scene and has been impounded for 7 days.
