17 Year Old Caught Doing 144 in an 80 – Mother’s Vehicle Impounded For A Week

(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH EAST, ON) – On Saturday December 20, 2014, shortly after 11 p.m. an Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was on patrol along Perth Line 33 east of Stratford when an approaching motor vehicle was observed travelling at a high rate of speed.

The officer activated the police radar and locked the vehicle in at a speed of 144 km/h. This is 64 km/h above the posted 80 km/h zone. The Dodge Caravan was pulled over by the officer, and the seventeen year old male driver, a resident of Stratford was issued a summons for “race a motor vehicle”. He is to appear at Stratford Court on February 10, 2015, to answer to this charge. His driver’s licence has been suspended for seven days and his mother’s vehicle was towed from the scene and has been impounded for a week.
