(Huron East, ON) On August 20, 2009 at approximately 7:00 pm a Huron OPP officer was patrolling Hydro Line when a westbound vehicle came into his sight and appeared to be travelling at a high rate of speed. The officer activated his radar and obtained a reading in excess of 60 kilometres above the speed limit of 80 kph.
The officer stopped the vehicle and the driver was identified as a 16 year old Mitchell youth. He was driving a vehicle registered to his mother. The vehicle was towed and impounded for 7 days under the Street Racing Legislation. The young driver has lost his licence for 7 days and he will be answering to his charge of Racing in Goderich Provincial Court on October 1, 2009.
