(TOWNSHIP OF CHATSWORTH, ON) – On Friday, November 1, 2013, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau – Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU), with the assistance of Grey County OPP executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant at a property on Robson Road, in the Township of Chatsworth, Grey County.
As a result of the execution of the search warrant, a large quantity of processed marihuana was located and seized from the home. The estimated street value of the marihuana was approximately $155,000.00. A high-powered rifle, ammunition and 2 Crossbows were also seized during the execution of the search warrant.
Steven Edward MELODY, 47, and Carol Anne NEWTON, 59, of the Township of Chatsworth are charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (Cannabis Marihuana) under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act as well as Unsafe Storage of a Firearm and Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm under the Criminal Code.
A bail hearing was scheduled for Monday, November 4, 2013.
