(SOUTHWEST MIDDLESEX, ONTARIO) – On the morning of December 2, 2016, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau – Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU), with the assistance of the Middlesex County OPP, the OPP West Region (WR) Emergency Response Team (ERT), and the OPP WR Canine Unit, executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrant at a residential property on Coltsfoot Drive.
As a result of the execution of the search warrant, a quantity of controlled substances were located and seized, including hydromorphone, fentanyl, oxycodone, morphine, marihuana, Ritalin, and suboxone.
The estimated street value of the drugs seized is $155,000.00
Canadian currency and two prohibited weapons (knives) were also located during the course of the search, and seized.
As a result of the police investigation, a 61-year-old male, Floriano DAPONTE, from Southwest Middlesex, Ontario, and a 62-year-old female, Vivian HAMILTON, from Adelaide Metcalfe, Ontario, have been charged under the CDSA with:
possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking X5
possession of a schedule II substance for the purpose of trafficking – over 3kg
possession of a schedule III substance for the purpose of trafficking
They were also charged under the Criminal Code of Canada (CCC) with unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon X2.
Daponte was further charged under the CCC with possession of a prohibited weapon contrary to prohibition order.
The accused persons are scheduled to appear in the London courts on January 13, 2017, to answer to the charges.
