$1,500,000 Drug Bust

(Grey Highlands, ON.) – On August 13th, 2009 members of the Ontario Provincial Police Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau – Drug Enforcement Unit, along with members of the Western Region Emergency Response Team, and the Grey County Detachment, executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act Search Warrant in the Municipality of Grey Highlands.

The search warrant was executed on a farm residence located on South Line B, in the former Osprey Township.

Police located an indoor cannabis marihuana grow, and a second outdoor cannabis marihuana grow on the property. Police seized the illegal drugs worth an approximate street value of over 1.5 million dollars. Also seized was a motor vehicle.

Three persons were arrested on scene and subsequently charged with Production of Cannabis Marihuana and Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Cannabis Marihuana. They are as follows:

o 1/ Nam Sang VONG, 46yrs, of Kitchener
o 2/ Duong Cam VONG, 40yrs, of Kitchener
o 3/ Tri Minh NGUYEN, 27yrs, of Kitchener

All three persons were held pending a bail hearing on the 14th of August 2009, at the Ontario Court of Justice – Owen Sound, Ontario.
