(GODERICH, ON) – The Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Criminal Investigation Unit has arrested two youth in relation to the arson at Watson’s Home Hardware located on Bayfield Road in Goderich. The fire, which took place around midnight on January 20, 2013 caused extensive damage to two utility sheds and the inventory inside the sheds.
Investigators determined the two youth involved entered the sheds and were smoking inside prior to the fire. After the fire, a 15 year old youth threatened to cause harm to the 12 year old if he told police about the fire.
A 15 year old boy from Goderich is facing charges of Arson, Mischief Over $5,000 and Utter Threats. Also charged is a 12 year old boy from Goderich he is facing charges of Arson and Mischief Over $5,000. Both will have to attend Youth Justice Court in Goderich on May 9, 2013.
