15 Speeders Caught In 2 1/2 Hours

Traffic enforcement

The Guelph Police Service is continuing to monitor vehicle speeds on Niska Road in the area of the single lane “Bailey Bridge” west of Pioneer Trail.

There is a parking area for a “trailhead” just west of the bridge.

Niska Road is a 50 km/h zone from Downey Road to Whitelaw Road.

Motorists approaching the “Bailey Bridge” also face a speed advisory sign indicating a speed of 20 km/h for the bridge.

On Monday 16 March, 2015, Guelph Police monitored traffic for approximately 2 1/2 hours (8:00am – 10:30am).

In addition to speed monitoring, police were enforcing the heavy truck ban and weight restriction on the bridge.

A total of 15 motorists were issued Provincial Offence Tickets for speeding.

All of the drivers were travelling westbound on Niska Road.

During this time period, no heavy trucks were observed in the area.

This area has been identified as a Target Enforcement Area by the Guelph Police Service and speed monitoring will continue on a regular basis.
