14 Impaired Drivers Busted Over The Weekend By YRP

Fourteen drivers were taken off York Region roads this weekend after being arrested and charged with impaired-related driving offences.

Between Friday, January 27, and Sunday, January 29, 2017, 11 men and three women were charged with alcohol-related driving offences, including nine from general patrol or R.I.D.E. spot checks and five from calls made to police by concerned citizens.

On Saturday, January 28, 2017, shortly after 6 a.m., police were called by a concerned citizen who came across a car stopped in a live lane on Yonge Street in the area of Dunlop Street in the Town of Richmond Hill. The citizen approached the stopped car and found the driver slumped over the steering wheel and would not wake up. When police arrived they were able to eventually wake up the driver who smelled of alcohol. He was placed under arrest and officers found marihuana and cocaine in his pockets. The driver was taken to #2 District Headquarters for a breath test, which he failed.
