14 Grow Sites Busted In Huron – 2,829 Marijuana Plants Destroyed

(HURON COUNTY, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) recently participated in a multi-jurisdictional marihuana eradication project. The project involved resources from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), the Canadian Forces (CF), West Grey Police Services and Saugeen Shores Police Service.

This group effort required police services to share information and intelligence in order to identify the marihuana grow sites. Between August 18th and August 21st, 2014 police seized and destroyed 2,829 marihuana plants from 14 illegal grow sites in Huron County.

Typically marihuana crops will be harvested starting as early as late August up until the beginning of October. Usually these marihuana crops are located in swamps, corn fields, wooded areas, along rivers and on rural properties with large acreage.

Huron County OPP would like to offer the following safety tips to members of the public in case they come across an illegal outdoor marihuana grow operation.
