139 in an 80 Results In Racing Charge

(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH SOUTH, ON) On Tuesday July 31, 2012, shortly after 1:30 p.m. a Perth County OPP officer patrolling Line 6 west of St.Marys observed a fast moving Dodge pickup truck.

The police radar was activated and it locked in the speed of the east bound truck at 139 km/h in an 80 km/h zone. The vehicle was operated by a 30 year old male from Lucan Biddulph Twp. He was issued a summons for “racing a motor vehicle” and is scheduled to appear in Stratford Court on August 28, 2012. His driver’s licence was seized and has been returned to the Ministry of Transportation as it is suspended for 7 days. The Dodge Dakota truck was towed from the scene and has been impounded for 7 days.

Motorists are reminded that Perth County OPP officers are actively patrolling east west roads throughout the county as traffic volume on these roads increases in the summer time. The Perth County OPP “Stop and Look” campaign is also in full swing with officers concentrating on intersection enforcement.
