(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – On August 8, 2013, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau – Drug Enforcement Unit (OCEB), with the assistance of the Bruce Peninsula OPP Crime Unit, and West Region Emergency Response Team (ERT); executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrant at a property on Bruce County Road 8, in the Town of South Bruce Peninsula.
As a result of the execution of the search warrant, an outdoor marihuana grow operation was revealed. Police seized cannabis marihuana plants, marihuana bud, marihuana shake and cannabis resin. The estimated street value of the seized controlled substances is $138,616. Two firearms and a prohibited device were also seized.
Scott WALKER, age 31, and Krista Lee HILLIER, age 26, of South Bruce Peninsula, were arrested and each charged with:
Production of marihuana
Possession of marihuana
Possession of cannabis resin
Possession of a prohibited device
Unauthorized possession of firearm (x2)
Unsafe storage of ammunition
They will appear in an Owen Sound court at a later date to answer to the charges.
A third accused, Todd Robert JOHNSTON, age 47, of South Bruce Peninsula, was charged with production of marihuana and possession of marihuana. He is scheduled to appear in court in Owen Sound on September 12, 2013.
