131 Grams Of Crack Cocaine Taken Off The Streets

(Ottawa) – On Friday, December 12, 2014, the Ottawa Police Service Drug Unit, with the assistance of the Tactical Team, executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act warrant in the 100 block of Deschamps Avenue in Vanier.

The investigation was launched in response to community complaints and resulted into a significant seizure from street level drug traffickers. Included in the seized items are:

131.45 grams of crack cocaine valued at $26,200.00
9.10 grams of powder cocaine valued at $910.00
29 unknown pills that were sent for analysis
$410.00 in Canadian currency
As a result of the investigation 4 people were charged with Possession of a Schedule I Substance (cocaine) under Sec 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act:

Christian THIBAULT, 21 year old, of Ottawa
Two male Young Offenders (both 15 years old)
Donald SPITTACHINE, 19 year old, of no fixed address
The first 15 year old male Young Offender is also charged with:

Two counts of Failing to Comply with an Undertaking under Sec 145(5.1) of the Criminal Code
Fail to Comply with Recognizance of Bail under Sec 145(3) of the Criminal Code
Obstruct Police under Sec 129(a) of the Criminal Code
The second 15 year old male Young Offender is also charged with:

Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking under Sec 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
Possession of Proceeds of Crime under $5,000.00 under Sec 355(b) of the Criminal Code
Donald SPITTACHINE is charged additionally with:

Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking under Sec 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
Possession of Proceeds of Crime under $5,000.00 under Sec 355(b) of the Criminal Code
Christian THIBAULT was released on a Promise to Appear and Undertaking with a court date of January 7, 2015.

Donald SPITTACHINE was held for a Show Cause Hearing and remains in custody with a court date of December 16, 2014.

The first male Young Offender was held for a Show Cause Hearing and remains in custody with a court date of December 19, 2014; whereas the second male Young Offender was released on an Undertaking with a court date of January 6, 2015.
