13 Year Old Airlifted To London After Collision On Hwy 86 This Morning

(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) – Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers remain at the scene of a single motor vehicle collision that occurred this morning shortly before 7 a.m.

It has been determined that an east bound GMC Sierra pickup truck operated by a 17-year-old male driver from the Municipality of Huron East was travelling east bound on Perth Line 86. The driver lost control of the vehicle which subsequently left the roadway, entered the south ditch where it struck a tree and a hydro pole. The hydro pole was sheered off.

The driver and the two passengers sustained injuries and were transported to a local hospital. One of the two passengers, a 13-year-old female has been airlifted to a London hospital with serious injuries.

The Perth County OPP is continuing their investigation into this collision. They are being assisted by the OPP West Region Technical Traffic Investigation (TTCI) Unit. Hydro One is replacing the pole and will attempt to restore power to the area in a timely manner.

Perth Line 86 between Road 167 and Road 169 is expected to remain closed until after 3 p.m. Motorists are requested to take alternate routes around the closed roadway.

VEHICLE STRIKES HYDRO POLE, ROAD CLOSED

(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) – Shortly before 7 a.m., members of the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a single motor vehicle collision on Perth Road 86 west of Listowel.

The investigation revealed that a vehicle left the roadway and struck a hydro pole. The OPP has closed Perth Line 86 between Road 167 and Road 169 and is diverting traffic around the crash location.

Motorists are urged to find alternate routes around the collision scene.
