12 Year Old Sexually Assaulted By Hockey Trainer – Police Fear More Victims – Nicolas CADORETTE Charged

Investigators with the York Regional Police Special Victims Unit – Crimes Against Children Section have charged a 67-year-old man following an investigation into the sexual assault of a boy in the 1970s.

On January 30, 2014, investigators spoke with a man who had come forward to report historical sexual assaults that had occurred when he was a child, playing hockey in the City of Vaughan. The victim advised police that in 1974, when he was 12 years old, he had been playing hockey at an arena in Woodbridge. The accused, Nicolas CADORETTE, got to know the boy when he became involved with the team as a trainer. The accused befriended the victim and offered him drives home from the arena. On numerous occasions between October 1974 and March 1976, the accused sexually assaulted the victim while driving him home from the arena.

Between the period of October 1974 and March 1976, the accused also took the victim on a trip to his family home in Quebec, as well as a trip to a cottage in Huntsville. On both of those occasions, the accused sexually assaulted the victim.

On June 14, 2016, the accused turned himself into police without incident. The charges appear as they would have in the Criminal Code at the time of the offences. Investigators are releasing an image of the accused and encouraging any other victims to come forward.

Charges:
