11 Year Old Gunned Down in Goderich – 2 Charged

(Goderich, ON) On October 25, 2009 at approximately 5:15 pm, Huron OPP officers received a call regarding an 11 year old girl who had been shot several times with an air gun. Upon investigation, police determined that two 12 year old boys had been in possession of two air guns. The boys had been playing with some kids their age when one of the two boys pulled out two air guns from his backpack. The two boys then began shooting at the victim at close range hitting her more than 20 times. Two other girls were also shot at by the boys. Some of the contact points from the plastic pellets broke the skin and left welts.

Both boys were later located at their residences. The air guns were seized for public safety and evidence. One 12 year old Goderich boy is now facing one count of Assault with a Weapon and one count of Discharge Air Gun with Intent. He will answer these serious charges in Goderich Youth Court on January 14, 2010. The second 12 year old Goderich male is facing three counts of Assault with a Weapon and three counts of Discharge Air Gun with Intent. He will also answer to his charges on January 14, 2010 in Goderich Youth Court. LP09272266
