HURON OPP’S LARGEST R.I.D.E EVENT – A SUCCESS

(HURON COUNTY, ON) – Officers from the Huron County & Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachments teamed up for a large scale R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) initiative this past Friday afternoon. Huron’s largest ever single day R.I.D.E program also coincided with start of Operation Impact.

Officers started the R.I.D.E program event Friday, October 5, 2012 just after 3:30 p.m.. The first of several checkpoints over the Thanksgiving weekend was set up on Grand Bend Line just east of Grand Bend. Two drivers stopped in the checkpoint had their licences suspended for 3 days as they registered warn range readings on roadside tests. One of those drivers, a 28 year old male from London was also ticketed with having open alcohol in his vehicle.
