West Grey Police Update

On April 5, 2024 West Grey Police officers were conducting a RIDE check on Grey Rd 4 when a vehicle driven by a 17 year old male was stopped.  The driver was known to have a suspended license and he was subsequently charged with 5 offences under the Highway Traffic Act and the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act.  The vehicle he was driving was towed and impounded for seven days.

During the same RIDE check a 24 year old female driver of a different vehicle was arrested and charged with Operation while Impaired and have a Blood alcohol concentration over 80 mgs.  She was released with a future court date and the vehicle she was driving was impounded.

On April 11, 2024 municipal staff advised officers of garbage dumped outside a municipal bin.  The owner of the garbage was identified and a 44 year old male from West Grey was charged with abandoning material likely to become litter under the Environmental Protection Act.

On April 10, 2024 a West Grey officer on patrol observed two individuals in a vehicle travelling on the 18th Concession.  The officer recognized that one party was on a non association condition not to be with the other party in the vehicle. A 20 year old female from West Grey was arrested, charged with breaching a release order and held for bail.  She was released and will attend court in May to answer to her original charges and the new charge.

On April 12, 2024 West Grey officers were advised that a 25 year old male from Brampton who was being monitored by an ankle bracelet had breached the conditions of a release order issued in Peel Region.  Officers attend the address in West Grey he was residing at and arrested and charged  him for breaching his release order.  He was held for bail and remanded into custody at Central North Correctional Centre where he remains at press time.

On April 16, 2024 West Grey officers responded to a reported theft  of $800.00 cash in Neustadt.  A 32 year old male was located and arrested near the scene of the theft, charged with the theft and breach of probation and released with conditions.  He will appear in court in May to answer to the charges.  The money was returned to the rightful owner.

The West Grey Police are very excited construction of the new police building will commence shortly. We thank the community for the support we received and continue to receive.
