(OTTAWA, ON) – An Ottawa resident is facing several Criminal Code (CC) charges following a firearms investigation.
In February 2026, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP)-led Provincial Guns and Gangs Enforcement Team (PGNG) initiated an intelligence-led firearms investigation relating to unauthorized possession of prohibited firearms.
On Tuesday, March 10, 2026, search warrants were executed by PGNG members on a vehicle and two residences in Ottawa located on Willow Avenue and Riverside Drive. Assistance was provided by members from the OPP-led Provincial Auto Theft and Towing Team and the Ottawa Police Service Tactical Unit.
As a result of the search warrants, the following items were seized:
- 12-gauge double-barreled sawed-off shotgun
- 12-gauge shotgun
- Ammunition
- Cell phone
Ryley MAJOR, age 23 of Ottawa, was arrested and charged with the following CC offences:
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm, s. 91(1)
- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited firearm, s. 91(1)
- Possession of a prohibited weapon, s. 92(2)
- Possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition, s. 95(1)
- Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm, s. 92(1) – two counts
The accused was released from custody following a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Ottawa on Thursday, April 23, 2026.
