Police Car Rammed – More Teens Arrested

(DRYDEN, ON) – The Dryden Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police have arrested and charged two people after failing to stop for police as a result of a traffic stop in the City of Dryden. 

On May 7, 2025, at 2:49 a.m., officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a motor vehicle within the City of Dryden. The motor vehicle fled at a high rate of speed. In the interest of public safely, the officers did not engage in a pursuit. Officers continued to look for the motor vehicle and later located the motor vehicle on Southworth Township. The motor vehicle failed to stop for police and continued east bound on Highway 17. Officers were able to use a tire deflation device, commonly referred to as a spike belt to stop the motor vehicle. Prior to coming to a stop, the motor vehicle rammed a marked police vehicle. 

Officers placed the driver of the motor vehicle under arrest and the passenger in the motor vehicle ran away from the vehicle and was located a short time later and placed under arrest.

As a result of the investigation, a 15-year-old of Pickle Lake, ON has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Theft Over $5,000 of a Motor Vehicle
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
  • Resist Peace Officer
  • Obstruct Peace Officer
  • Mischief Under $5,000

In addition, a 16-year-old of Lac Seul First Nation, ON has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Theft Over $5,000
  • Assault A Peace Officer
  • Dangerous operation
  • Fail to stop for Police
  • Resist Peace Officer
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000
  • Fail to comply with release order
  • Fail to Comply with undertaking
  • Mischief Over $5,000
  • Flight from peace officer
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration
  • Assault A Peace Officer with a weapon – two counts
  • Failure to stop after accident

Due to the age of the accused, their names will be withheld in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA). Both accused have been remanded into custody.

Assisting with the investigation are members from Treaty Three Police Service, OPP’s Traffic Incident Management Team, OPP’s Sioux Lookout Detachment and OPP’s Emergency Response Team.
