Lu YI – Drunk Driving Wrong Way On 407

(VAUGHAN, ON) – Officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Highway Safety Division (HSD) – 407 Detachment, investigated a collision involving an impaired driver going the wrong way on Highway 407 in Vaughan, Ontario.

On Thursday June 6, 2024, at approximately 6:08 a.m, the OPP received a call of a vehicle traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes on Highway 407 near Dufferin Street in Vaughan, Ontario. The wrong way vehicle was an SUV and it collided with a pickup truck causing minor injuries to the driver of the pickup truck. The driver of the wrong way vehicle was arrested at the scene of the collision.

Lu YI, 39 years old of Vaughan, Ontario is charged with multiple Highway Traffic Act offences in addition to the following offences:

  •   Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  •   Operation while impaired – alcohol
  •   Dangerous operation

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Newmarket on August 8, 2024 to answer to the charges.
