Arrest Made In Homicide Investigation

(TIMMINS) The Timmins Police Service has made an arrest in connection with the ongoing homicide investigation stemming from the shooting incident that occurred on Dwyer Avenue on March 14, 2026.

On April 23, 2026, with the assistance of the Ontario Provincial Police, the accused was located in Cochrane, Ontario. Members of the Timmins Police Service attended and took the individual into custody.

The accused was 17 years of age at the time of the offence. Under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the identity of the young person cannot be released. The accused, a youth from Toronto, Ontario, has been charged with:

YP – Second Degree Murder
YP – Pointing a Firearm
YP – Discharge Firearm with Intent
YP – Careless Storage of a Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition
YP – Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
YP – Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
YP – Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
YP – Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
YP – Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
YP – Careless Use of a Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition
YP – Discharge a Firearm into or at a Place in a Reckless Manner
YP – Failure to Comply with Release Order (other than to attend court)
YP – Failure to Comply with Undertaking
The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the courts today, April 24, 2026, and is to be remanded into custody.
