Fatal Collision

(Roslin, ON) – One person is deceased after a two-vehicle collision just outside Belleville.

Members of the Central Hastings Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the crash on Highway 37, at the intersection with Boundary Road/Shannonville Road, shortly before 11:00 a.m. on June 12, 2024.

A pick-up truck had been westbound on Shannonville Road when it collided with an SUV which was heading south on Highway 37.

Following the collision, the pick-up entered a water-filled ditch and rolled over. Several civilians tried to remove the driver from the vehicle but were unable to do so. The driver, a 53-year-old man from Stone Mills Township, was later pronounced deceased at the scene. There was no one else in that vehicle.

The driver of the SUV was transported to a Kingston trauma centre with non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation continues, with the assistance of an OPP Collision Reconstructionist and other members of the Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) team.
