(ATIKAMEKSHENG FIRST NATION, ON) – A driver was arrested and charged with impaired driving offences, after police responded to a traffic complaint.
On November 24, 2024, at approximately 9:55 a.m., members from the Nipissing West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint on Reserve Road, Atikameksheng First Nation.
The vehicle was located, and the driver provided a false name to police. The driver was arrested for impaired driving, then transported to the OPP detachment for further testing.
Jennifer HEATH, 34 years-of-age, from Sudbury, was charged with:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol
- Failure or refusal to comply with demand
- Obstruct Peace Officer
- Failure to comply with release order
- Driving while under suspension – two counts
The accused was held for Bail Court, then remanded back into custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on November 27, 2024, in Sudbury.
The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
