Hwy 11 Meth Bust – Names Released

(CALDER TOWNSHIP, ON) – Two people were arrested after police conducted a routine traffic stop.

On March 11, 2024, shortly before 8:00 p.m., the James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that had no lights to the rear, on Highway 11 between Cochrane and Smooth Rock Falls. An investigation led to the arrest of the two occupants, and a subsequent search of the vehicle.

Police seized drugs suspected to be methamphetamine tablets, cannabis resin (hash), as well as bear spray, a large kitchen knife, and a small quantity of Canadian currency. A total estimated value of the seizure was $1700.

As a result of this investigation, Jonathan FORGER-HOTTE, 29-years-of-age of Mont Laurier, QC was charged with the following:

  • Trafficking a schedule I substance – Methamphetamines
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Methamphetamines
  • Possession of a prohibited device for a dangerous purpose
  • Possession of a prohibited weapon contrary to a prohibition order – five counts
  • Possession of cannabis for the purpose of distributing
  • Fail to comply with probation order

Further, Frederic PRIVE, 32 years-of-age of Saint Colomban, QC was charged with the following:

  • Trafficking a schedule I substance – Methamphetamines
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Methamphetamines
  • Possession of a prohibited device for a dangerous purpose
  • Possession of cannabis for the purpose of distributing
  • Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available
  • No clear view to the sides
  • Drive without proper rear lights
  • No clear view to the rear

Both accused persons were released and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on April 9, 2024 in Cochrane.
