Robbery charge after clerk assaulted

A Guelph man faces a robbery charge after a convenience store clerk was assaulted and had product stolen Monday.

Approximately 7:40 a.m. police were called to a business near Gordon Street and Wellington Street East. A male had asked for cigarettes before attempting to go around the counter to the employee area.

When the female clerk tried to stop him, the male shoved her and snatched the cigarettes from her hand. The clerk was not physically injured.

Officers responded minutes later and located the male nearby holding the stolen cigarettes. A 29-year-old Guelph man is charged with robbery and breaching probation. He was held for a bail hearing Wednesday.

Teen hit by car then charged

A teenage girl got hit by a car and handed a ticket Monday morning.

Approximately 9:20 a.m. emergency services received a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle at Victoria Road North and Eastview Road. A 17-year-old Guelph girl was transported to hospital for treatment of a minor head injury.

She was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with disobeying a Don’t Walk signal.

Driver charged after collision with fire truck

A driver was charged Monday afternoon after colliding with a fire truck.

Just before 4:30 p.m. police were called to Victoria Road North and Speedvale Avenue East where a Ford Escape collided with the emergency vehicle. The 18-year-old driver of the Escape sustained minor injuries.

The Escape driver was charged with failing to yield to an emergency vehicle.
