Male Arrested for Public Mischief

On February 15, 2024, a 36-year-old Guelph male contacted the Guelph Police Service to report damage to his vehicles. He claimed two vehicles in his driveway were damaged by unknown suspects.

Police initiated an investigation and arrived at a different conclusion. On March 16, 2024, the male was arrested for public mischief, fraud over $5000 and breaching an Order of Recognizance. Police allege the male damaged his own vehicles, then called his insurance company to file a claim.

Impaired Driving

On March 16, 2024, a member of the Guelph Police Service Traffic Unit was conducting proactive patrol in the area of Ironwood Road and Scottsdale Drive. Police allege a vehicle was observed driving in an aggressive manner and the officer conducted a traffic stop to speak to the driver. At approximately 5:25pm, the driver was spoken to. A roadside sobriety test was administered, which the driver failed.

As a result of this investigation, a 22-year-old Guelph male was arrested and charged with impaired operation and Highway Traffic Act charges.

Male Arrested for Multiple Offences

On March 16, 2024, at approximately 6:10pm, Guelph Police and ambulance were called to Arthur Street North and Macdonell Street where there was a report of a male with a possible medical emergency. The male was spoken to by paramedics and medically cleared. Police spoke to the male and discovered the male was wanted for several offences.

It is alleged that, on March 12, 2024, at approximately 8:40pm, the male entered a commercial establishment on Silvercreek Parkway North and used counterfeit currency to pay for items. Investigation revealed the identify of the suspect and police were in the process of issuing a warrant for his arrest.

Also on March 12, 2024, at 11:40pm, the accused is alleged to have entered an ATM vestibule on Speedvale Avenue East and discharged a pellet gun, causing damage. Damage is estimated at $300. Investigation revealed the identify of the suspect and police were in the process of issuing a warrant for his arrest.

The 40-year-old Guelph male was arrested and charged with mischief, weapons dangerous, uttering counterfeit money and 5 counts of breaching his Probation Order. He was held for a bail hearing.

Collision – Impaired Arrest

On March 18, 2024, at approximately 1:45am, Guelph police were called to Woodlawn Road East for the repot of a collision.

Police arrived on scene shortly thereafter and observed a vehicle involved in the collision driving away. Police were able to conduct a traffic stop and speak to the driver. The driver is alleged to have obvious signs of alcohol impairment and was arrested. The 62-year-old Sudbury male was charged with impaired driving and a related Highway Traffic Act offence. There were no injuries as a result of this collision.
