(KAPUSKASING, ON) – A Festive Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program in Kapuskasing resulted in impaired driving charges for one individual.
On December 1, 2024, at approximately 1:00 a.m., the James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a RIDE program on Brunetville Road. Officers stopped a vehicle and determined that the driver had consumed alcohol. The driver was arrested and transported to the Kapuskasing detachment for further testing.
As a result, 45-year-old Felix LAROUCHE of Kapuskasing has been charged with:
· Operation while impaired – alcohol
· Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kapuskasing on January 13, 2025. A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) was issued, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
During the 2024 Festive RIDE program, running from November 21, 2024, to January 1, 2025, the motoring public can expect to see an increased OPP presence on our roadways.
