(MOOSE CREE FIRST NATION, ON) – The James Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is renewing its call for the public’s assistance in an ongoing death investigation in Moose Factory.
On November 7, 2023, at approximately 3:00 a.m., Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service (NAPS) responded to a report of an injured person on Jaban Street. When police arrived on scene, 21-year-old Loni CHUM was located with life-threatening injuries and transported to hospital by ambulance, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
The death is believed to be the result of a fail-to-stop collision, involving a motor vehicle and a pedestrian.
The investigation is continuing under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch. Anyone who may have witnessed this incident or has any information is urged to come forward. Every piece of information, regardless of how insignificant it may seem, could be crucial.
