Drunk Driver On Hwy 21 Arrested – CALDWELL

(BLUEWATER, ON) – A Bluewater resident is facing Impaired Operation and Speeding charges following a traffic stop conducted by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) earlier this week.

On June 1, 2021, at approximately 10:44 p.m. a Huron OPP officer was conducting RADAR enforcement south of Saint Joseph when the officer spotted a pickup truck travelling southbound on Bluewater Veteran’s Highway (Highway 21) at a high rate of speed. The driver was subsequently stopped for speeding and while speaking with the driver the officer noted the driver had consumed some alcohol. A roadside test was conducted and the driver registered a fail. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest and was transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for breath tests. Two breath samples were analyzed by the qualified Intoxilizer Technician and both were found to be above the legal limit.

Jake CALDWELL, 24 years of age from Bluewater has been charged with Impaired Operation – Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) 80 Plus & Speeding. The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for July 12, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich. The accused’s licence was automatically suspended for 90 days and the vehicle has been impounded for a week.
